Soccer Rules for 1st & 2nd Grade

Field Location

  • Listed on game schedule.

Home Team

  • First team listed on the schedule.
  • Home team kicks off in the first and third quarters.
  • Away team kicks off in the second and third quarters.

Game Length

  • 15 minutes quarters
  • 5 minutes between quarters
  • 10 minute half time

Throw-ins

  • For the first half of the season, one warning during first half, turn over during second half.
  • For the second half of the season, no warning.

Substitutions

  • Allowed on goal kick, after a goal, corner kick, between quarters, and on throw-in.

No Direct Kicks

Indirect Kicks

  • All infractions, i.e. playing ball twice, dangerous play, handball...

All Kicks

  • Defending players must be 10 yards away on all kicks.

Referees

  • Each team shall provide one referee of at least high school age. If referees are not available, the coaches will call the game.

Fielding a Team

  • Teams may play a maximum of 8 players.
  • Teams may not use a player who is not officially registered with the league as a member of that team.
  • All team members are to play at least one half of a game.
  • Minimum of 2 of each gender on field (unless due to injury/sickness/discipline).

Tie Games

  • If score is tied at end of regulation play, then that is the final score.


Soccer Rules for 3rd & 4th Grade

Field Location

  • Listed on game schedule.

Home Team

  • First team listed on the schedule.
  • Home team kicks off in the first and third quarters.
  • Away team kicks off in the second and third quarters.

Game Length

  • 15 minutes quarters
  • 5 minutes between quarters
  • 10 minute half time

Throw-ins

  • For the first half of the season, one warning during first half, turn over during second half.
  • For the second half of the season, no warning.

Substitutions

  • Allowed on goal kick, after a goal, corner kick, between quarters, and on throw-in.

No Direct Kicks

  • Including penalty kick (will be indirect outside of box).

Indirect Kicks

  • All infractions, i.e. playing ball twice, dangerous play, handball...

Offsides

  • The ball or a player from the other team must be between goalie and offensive player on the scoring end of the field.
  • Offside calls shall be liberal for the first half of the season and then be stricter for the second half of the season.

  • Paid officials

Game Length

  • 30 minute halfs
  • 10 minute half time
  • Clock stops with goals and injury

Throw-ins

  • For the first half of the season, one warning during first half, turn over during second half.
  • For the second half of the season, no warning.

Substitutions

  • Either team allowed on goal kick, after a goal, corner kick, and on injury. Corner kick and throw-in, no substitutions allowed on penalty kicks.

Direct Kicks

  • Intentional/aggressive infractions, handball, any dangerous kicks.
  • Any infraction inside penalty line.

Indirect Kicks

  • All infractions, i.e. playing ball twice, offsides...

Offsides

  • When ball is played in your direction, cannot be offside in your half of the field or on a goal kick, corner kick, throw-in, or drop ball.
  • Offside calls shall be liberal for the first half of the season and then be stricter for the second half of the season.

All Kicks

  • Defending players must be 10 yards away on all kicks.

Referees

  • Paid officials

Fielding a Team

  • Teams may play a maximum of 8 players.
  • At least 6 players are required for a legal game.
  • You may play one more player than your opponent, up to 8 players. 
  • Teams may not use a player who is not officially registered with the league as a member of that team.
  • All team members are to play at least one half of a game.
  • Minimum of 2 of each gender on field (unless due to injury/sickness/discipline).
  • At 6:00 it's a forfeit.

Tie Games

  • Ties remain a tie.
  • If it comes down to standings at the end of the season, we go into overtime.
